The Scientist

Another favorite, I'd forgotten.

The Scientist - by Coldplay.

My dad is actually giving a talk on moths to the Lepodoptera Society as I write....but that's a totally different type of science.

Okay, and then for some humor check out "Where the Hell is Matt (2008)" at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY . My brother Mark shared this with me over Thanksgiving...it's not a bad way to see the world and to meet interesting new people....dance people dance!

The Weepies

I have a new favorite band: The Weepies. Deb Talan (formerly of hummingfish I believe) and Steve Tannen (also a song writer in his own right) have this great love story of uniting through their music...and now they have a 1 year old baby and a few top hit CDs.

Here are a few YouTube Videos of songs by The Weepies that I'm in love with right now:

* The Weepies - Somebody Loved
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQCWPcYD5nQ

* The Weepies - World Spins Madly On
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4sa2HoXpsE

* The Weepies - Can't Go Back Now
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JscAwVu2QI

* The Weepies - Gotta Have You
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NKj8NktLs8

* The Weepies - Nobody Knows Me At All

Watch the videos. Hear the lyrics. I love it!

On Waking

Today I woke knowing that the morning was over in Vieques Puerto Rico. Sunrise watched, bikes ridden, and water swum. We live as anchors at the center of our universe, while others do the same. Moving like soapy bubbles bouncing off each other: brilliant in color, drifting, moving, dancing, exploring....and on occasion joining.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from my travels in Puerto Rico - first for work associated with the NAPCRG conference and then with Jill:

Funny how blogging is more than writing. It is also an opportunity to create yourself and to present yourself to the world. It's funny...today this blog post isn't for me (which is the first time that's happened). If you go to Vieques, Puerto Rico be sure to rent bikes and book a trip through Vieques adventures - the owner Garry has the inside scoop on all the island secrets! See http://www.viequesadventures.com/ for details.

Home? :) I'm jonesing for one...

La Grande is home. I've always been one to be looking toward the "next step" and to have a few plans tucked away. But I'm coming to a stage where I've begun to question my desire for continued "upward mobility" and rather I've develop a strong urge to buy a house and build a little nest here. Here's a photo of the little cottage I'm considering. Built in 1890 it used to be a telegraph station. The walls are 11 inches of brick, but don't let the rustic look fool you. Inside the house has hardwood floors (under new carpet), a new tiled kitchen, beautiful walls, double pane windows, and (yes) marble countertops. It also has 2 bedrooms, a laundry room, and a glorious big back yard with a generous storage shed. It's a gem.
